The body of a man was retrieved from the Mopan River earlier today.  Correspondent Elaine Berry has the story.

“Benque Viejo Police were informed of a body seen floating in the Mopan River this morning in the area of the bus terminal. Upon arrival they saw the lifeless body of a male person fully clothed. The body was retrieved from the river and was taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital morgue where it awaits a post mortem. Love News understands that three men from the village of Calla Creek were allegedly involved in an altercation that took place in Melchor, Guatemala on Saturday June 6. The three men then attempted to cross the Mopan River when one of the men jumped in and did not resurface. Police investigation continues into this latest incident.”
