Belize Jaguars Are Home

In March, Belize began its road to the 2018 World Cup in Moscow.  The first hurdle was the Cayman Islands and although it was not an easy task, after the home and away series ended, the Jaguars prevailed. The team with a number of changes travelled to the Dominican Republic this week to take on the home team yesterday.  At the end of regulation, Belize was once again victorious on two goals by Deon McCauley.  The game ended in a two to one score.  Today the team was back on home soil and they have little time to savour the victory as on Sunday afternoon they will try to seal their way to continue in the competition. Love News was at the Philip Goldson International Airport awaiting Belize’s football stars.  We spoke to Ian Gaynair and Shane Moody to get their feel of yesterday’s game.

Assistant Coach Charlie Slusher spoke of the performance on the field while Deon McCauley shared with us what those few minutes were like when Belize scored.

On Sunday, June 14, the Belize Jaguars will be playing the Dominican Republic once again …. But this time on Belize’s turf.  We asked for predictions.

According to Marlon Kuylen, the team’s Finance Manager, this game in the DR carried a cost of about one hundred thousand dollars and with future games pending; the team will have to turn to the public, the private citizens and even the Government.

Sunday’s game between Belize Jaguars and the Dominican Republic starts at 4pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan and will be carried LIVE on Love FM.
