Minister John Saldivar’s Driver Charged in Hit and Run Incident

Orlando Castillo, the driver for the Minister of National Security has been charged with a number of offences following a fatal hit and run incident in Camalotte Village on Saturday night. He was charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, failure to stop and render aid, failure to provide blood and/or urine sample.  He appeared in Belmopan Magistrate Court earlier today. He was offered bail in the sum of eight thousand dollars and has to surrender all his travel documents.  He is to reappear in court on September 7. On Saturday night Castillo was driving a vehicle when it is alleged he knocked down Vallan Paul Cucul, a caretaker of Punta Gorda Town.  Cucul died at the scene.
