BNTU urges teachers to get teaching licence

Today the Belize National Teacher’s Union, BNTU, issued a release in which it advises teachers that come 2016 they better have all their teaching documentations in order. The release advises that if you are a teacher and do not currently possess a full teaching license, or currently hold a provisional; teaching license issued before 2011 and valid until 2016 or hold a provision teaching license and not enrolled in a course of study upgrade your license to full then you will be issued a notice from the Ministry of Education which will restrict you from teaching in the entire country; that is until you obtain your necessary qualifications for a full license. The BNTU says that teachers were given ample opportunities, extensions and reminded to upgrade and become fully qualified. If you are not after 2016 then you will be in violation of Section 29(9) of the Education and Training Act 2010.
