No arrest in murder of man in Mahogany Heights

The body of 23-year-old Desmond Meyers was found yesterday morning in Mahogany Heights. Police have several persons detained for questioning in connection with the incident. Superintendent Hilberto Romero shared what their investigations have revealed so far.

Police personnel visited an area off a road at Mahogany Heights where they found the lifeless body of Desmond Usher partly decomposed. He had been last seen on Friday. A post mortem was conducted on the spot and he had blunt trauma to the head. An investigation is being conducted at this time, we have several persons in custody and we are continuing with this investigation.

“So what is the motive?

“ We don’t have motive at this time ,we are following several leads that we have. I know he was last seen alive on Friday, persons who were conducting searches in the area found his body on Monday.

 We understand that he was given a call prior to going missing.

“Well like I said we are following several leads at this time, we don’t have anything conclusive at this time and we have not charged anyone at this time and we are doing follow up work on it.

“Is there any indication that a fire arm may have been involved as well?”

“I cannot say at this time like I said the investigation is being done at this time.

 Do you believe that the death of Mr. Usher is gang related?

“I don’t have that information at the end of this investigation we will try to establish what transpired with this murder.”

Is it true that some of his death apparently had been knocked out and that there were other signs of foreplay?

“Well that is as far as I will go as to the injuries I mentioned that he had injuries to the head. “

 Is it believed that he was lured to his death ?

“Again I do not have that information.

“Tell us about police participation in the search.

“Police received a report on Sunday and they had done some searching in that area and it was family members that found him on Monday. “

But they are complaining that they had requested and as a matter of fact informed the police that he had gone missing under suspicious circumstances. “

Like I mentioned the police got that report on Sunday and they were doing some searching, the area where he was found is an isolated area and the family found him there.”
