Tempers flared at several polling stations during the course of the day.  Reports this morning indicated that thigs escalated at the polling station in Hope Creek and involved the Orange Walk North representatives for both parties. Ramon Cervantes is the PUP’s standard bearer.

“What happened is I was taking a voter to vote and I was accompanying her and then the Deputy Prime Minister he came in a very angry way and pushed me away and I turned and reacted and turned and then one of his henchmen threw two punches at me and I dodge the two of them and then one of my people came to help me and punched that guy and he fell flat on his rear on the pavement on his back and the Deputy Prime Minister himself fell into the drain and then ran up and took refuge in the polling area in the yard closer to the polling area. I didn’t see this but there are reports that one of the guys that was accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister took out a gun.”

‘So only the henchman was the one who basically got hurt.”

“I don’t know if he is the only one I was looking after myself and everything happened so fast.”

Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega said while an incident occurred, it might have involved some of his supporters.

“All I remember is that I was walking two ladies to the polls a mom and her daughter then she said “that other lady is my daughter also.” and she was being escorted by Munchie as we know Mr. Cervantes was escorting her. I said “Ms. Amaya come with your mommy.” I di campaign I’ll be sincere “Come with your mommy” that it. He got a little stiff. I went my way there was a scuffle but I must clarify something Munchie didn’t throw a punch at me, didn’t insult me and likewise I had nothing to do with it. My job as from this morning out here was to bring the voters to deposit their vote of confidence in the name of Frank Papa Mena and that is where I stand until six after that I’ll divert my attention to something else.

“So did any of the supporters get into any physical altercations?”

Gaspar Vega – Area Representative, Orange Walk North

“Yes there was a scuffle, but like I said, who was in it I don’t know because you notice how far the street is from the polling station I continued taking the three ladies then to deposit that vote of confidence.”
