Traffic Accident on Southern Highway Leaves Several Injured

Four persons are recovering from injuries sustained in a road traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday evening. We hear more in this report from correspondent Angelica Cruz.

“Yesterday evening Love News reported about an accident on the Hummingbird highway that left a family of four injured. Today, 28-year-old, Roxanna Julisa Lopez, a Belizean businesswoman of Sarawee Village told police that on Tuesday evening, July 14 sometime around 3:30pm she was driving a white Toyota van from Sarawee village en route to Belmopan and upon reaching between miles 47 and 48 on the Hummingbird Highway she began to experience steering problems with the vehicle. Sarawee Accident 2As a result she lost control of the vehicle ran off the highway and overturned several times in a ditch. Travelling along with Lopez were 44-year-old, Gilda McKenzie who sustained abrasions to the right side of the face, hip shoulder and complained of pain to the right side of the body; 12-year-old, Lourdes McKenzie who sustained a cut wound to the left knee below the left arm and multiple abrasions to both legs and 40-year-old, Minerva Lopez who sustained a fractured right hand and abrasions to the body. The driver of the van Roxanna Lopez complained of pain to both legs and her head. All four persons are residents of Sarawee village, they were admitted to ward at the Western Regional Hospital in a stable condition.”
