Police in Belize City are investigating a traffic incident that occurred yesterday on the Philip Goldson Highway involving a four door Nissan X-Trail SUV and a black motorcycle.  According to police reports, the driver of the SUV, 65-year-old, Emilio Awe was exiting the parking are of DK Supermarket and entering the highway when he saw the 21-year-old, Godwin Panting coming in the opposite direction and heading straight into the SUV.  Awe told police that he applied brakes to try and avoid an accident but the motorcycle still collided into the SUV, causing Panting to fall off the bike.  Panting sustained injuries to his face and left food and was treated at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital while Awe was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.

 

A 37-year-old, Cuban businesswoman, Yaquelin Morish,  presently residing on Consejo Road, Corozal Town reported that on August 5 between 10pm and 10:45pm, she heard a noise outside her home. Upon making checks, she found a ladder leaning against her window. She armed herself with a machete and went outside and saw Philip Codd armed with a knife, who then inflicted three cut wounds to her chest. 65-year-old, Phillip Codd is now facing a charge of grievous harm.

 

Special Branch, K-9 Unit and the Quick Response Team conducted a search of an area in the D.F.C. Area on August 5 around 7am in San Pedro Town. The searches led to flour sacks containing one thousand two hundred and twenty eight grams of Cannabis. The suspected cannabis was deposited as “Found Property”.  Further search in the San Pedrito Area, San Pedro Town led to the discovery of a Cheetos cheese chips packs containing 8.8 grams of Cannabis which was also deposited as “Found Property”.  At  around 6pm, they searched the Bayside Area, San Pedro Town which led to the discovery of a transparent plastic bag containing 60.1 grams of Cannabis and that too was deposited as found property.
