Man found guilty of drug offences sentenced

Sixty-one year old James Alvarez, a labourer of Eden Site, was sentenced to three years today by Magistrate La Donna John after he pled guilty to a charge of drug trafficking for 124 grams of cannabis. Alvarez owed the court nine thousand and twenty five dollars for a previous conviction for drug trafficking which he got in 2011. Therefore, he will also serve time for non-payment of the fine.  Alvarez was busted yesterday when the police, acting on information they received, went to his residence and found him lying on his sofa with a black plastic bag in his lap. The police reported that when they opened the bag thy found that it contained cannabis.
