Kareem Musa, PUP Standard Bearer

“We’ve been campaigning on the ground for the last three months and we’ve been doing house to house campaigning and the response has been truly incredible. It’s been rewarding for me being a first time candidate because I get to not only renew my previous relationships because I am from Caribbean Shores so I’ve been able to reconnect with a lot of my early child hood friends and to build new relationships as well with the voters of Caribbean Shores so it’s been a rewarding experience for me. Very positive reaction nobody has turned me away as yet so I am very grateful for that and I look forward to continuing with the very positive campaign in Caribbean shores.”

“Are you confident that you will be able to defeat Darrell Bradley?

Voice 1: “My team and I are very confident and we are hopeful that we will be able to beat Mr. Bradley and so far it’s been positive so I have no complaints at all. I think the only thing I would say that is a disadvantage is the fact that the mayor has at his disposal a lot of the city’s resources that he can use to bolster his campaign in Caribbean shores but I’m not sure that even that would be of any great disadvantage but if I had to give a disadvantage it would be that.”

Musa’s father is the former Prime Minister, Said Musa, who has been accused of several serious allegations. Musa says those allegations will not hinder his victory come the next general elections.

My name is Kareem Musa and I am the son of Said Musa and I have absolutely no qualms with that. I think my dad was the first one to have gone on the media afterwards and said that mistakes were made but it wasn’t mistakes that he wasn’t involved in any wrong doing. Decisions were made that he has looked back at and said that they were mistakes. I have to be given a fair opportunity as well and I believe that I can represent my people of Caribbean Shores and I can learn from his mistakes as well. We have to look at that aspect of it.”

“People of Belize see it their own way, do you think that begin that you are the son of Said Musa that that is something that they will hold against you?

Kareem Musa, PUP Standard Bearer

“I don’t believe so. In Caribbean Shores I haven’t gotten that response, I haven’t heard from the constituents in my area they know who I am and they know what I represent and so far I haven’t gotten any kind of feedback like that so I don’t think it will affect me at all.”
