UN Resident Coordinator presents credentials

Last week, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for El Salvador and Belize, Christian Salazar, presented his letter of introduction to Prime Minister Dean Barrow.  He was also received by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wilfred Elrington.   Before this appointment, Salazar was Deputy Director, Programme Division with UNICEF in New York. He also served with OHCHR as Representative in Colombia with a focus on human rights monitoring, security reform, transitional justice and the protection of indigenous peoples and Afro-Colombians.  Previous to that posting, he was the UNICEF Representative in Iran, Deputy Representative and Representative in Vietnam. He began his career with the UN system when he joined UNICEF in 1999 as Deputy Representative in Guatemala.
