Fire officials responded to a fire early this morning at the corner of Nargusta Street and Mopan Street in Belize City. There they began to battle the flames that engulfed a two storey wooden structure. However, fire officials were able to contain the fire and prevent it from destroying the entire house. Unfortunately the lower flat was destroyed and 31 year old Anita McKoy and her family was left with nothing but the clothes on their back.

“Since this was a wooden structure is that family that is living on the second story, is that still safe for them to be residing there?

Benisford Matura – National Fire Service

“From my estimation yes it’s still safe but for their safety they need to get with a contractor or someone that deals with buildings to make sure that it is safe.
