UNICEF issues advisory over fraudulent mail

Updated: September 3, 2015

UNICEF Belize has issued an advisory to the public following the circulation of letters purportedly coming from the organization. According to the release, several people in Belize have received fraudulent award letters and emails that appear to be coming from UNICEF in Spain and Orchadhills Security Company. The letter states that recipients won an award and need to submit personal information like banking details, family information, address and signature. UNICEF Belize says it does not do any fundraising from private individuals in the country and under no circumstances ask private individuals for donations in person. The public is asked to visit the UNICEF Belize Facebook page for more information.
