Miss East Indian Queen 2015-2016 crowned

Of the seven contestants from Corozal, Toledo and Belize Districts the coveted Ms. East Indian Title 2015-2016 was won by Namita Balani of Belize City.

“It’s been an honor to represent my culture and my community on such a big stage and I feel so honored to have bene chosen to win this title and to go to Trinidad and represent our culture once again so it’s just been a whirlwind of surprises and I couldn’t be more thankful.”

“I am from Belize district Belize City and I’m representing the Belize Indian Community, the BIC.

“What sort of preparations did you do for this very important pageant?”

Namita Balani

“Well there were late nights of practice, there were endless modeling sessions, there was just so much going on in so little time that we just had to get everything done as best as we could.”

“There are many others who are looking forward to this title next year when you give up your reign what word of advice would you share with them now?”

“My advice would be to just follow your heart and don’t just practice, practice, practice to be perfect, practice to be the best you and that’s as best as it can be.

“Miss East Indian Queen Namita Balani also won the titles “Ms. Talented”, “Ms. Personality” and “Ms. Personality” First runner up was Teisha Ranchoran who also won the title “Ms. Photogenic”. Second runner up was Christi Gilharry. Pageant judges were Dr. Ingrid Sansores, Nigel Encalada, Karolyn Charlie, Sharah Buxwani and Sade Gillet. On stage appearances showcased the contestants during their individual introduction, talent and cultural presentation, appearance in culture wear and question and answer segment. The Ms. East Indian Pageant was organized by Corozal Organization of East Indian Cultural Heritage under the leadership of its president Silvia Perez. The Pageant at Corozal Community College Auditorium was held under the theme “Bridging the gap; one Belize one people”
