There is a partnership between the University of Belize and the University of North Florida College of Education and Human Services whereby both entities are seeking ways to assist children in their home country who are having problems keeping up in school.  A team from the Ministry of Education in Belize traveled to Florida recently where they met with educators there as part of the Urban Professional Development School program.  Whilst there they were able to observe how the university in Florida worked in small groups and one on one with students in the subject areas that they were struggling in.  The Belize delegation was at the Woodland Acres Elementary School with plans to have the University of Belize aid the Kuxlin Government Primary School on the same level.  This exchange program is being funded through a grant given to the University of North Florida College of Education and Human Services
