Belize Nominated for World Tourism Awards

On October 10, Belize was made proud after receiving its very first awards in the World Travel Awards initiative for 2015.  The Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize was ranked as the Mexico and Central America’s Leading Beach Destination 2015 while Ambergris Caye was dubbed Mexico and Central America’s Leading Destination 2015.  World Travel WorldTonight, the Belize Tourism Board is calling on Belizeans to participate and cast their votes for four other categories that Belize has been nominated for.  These awards that Belize received some ten days ago was based on it being the leading beach and destination in the Central American region … but these recent nominations seek to rank Belize globally in four areas.  The four categories are:  World’s Leading Beach Destination: Placencia, Belize; World’s Leading Destination: Ambergris Caye, Belize; World’s Leading Dive Destination and World’s Leading Green Destination.  Voting for the World categories is now open and will be opened until November 8, 2015.  Interested parties can visit the website, www.Worldtravelawards.com to cast their votes.  The Grand Final Gala Ceremony will take place on December 12, 2015, in Morocco.  In addition to these nominations in the World Travel Awards, there is another competition in which Belize is a nominee.  Ambergris Caye, Belize was nominated by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Caribbean Destination for Adventure.  To vote in this category, you can go to the website, www.10best.com and click on the awards link.  Voting for this competition closes on November 9 and winners will be announced on November 13.  A person is allowed to vote once per day for the duration of the competition.
