The General Elections is two weeks away and things are heating up as the day draws nearer.  One standard bearer who seems to be getting into the thick of things is Michel Chebat for the People’s United Party in Cayo North.  Today, we came across a letter he wrote to his UDP opponent, Dr Omar Figueroa inviting him for a public debate.  The letter reads, quote, “In my capacity as the Standard Bearer for Cayo North, I take this opportunity to extend to you an invitation to a candidate’s debate before the Election Day on November 4, 2015.  The voters of Cayo North deserve the opportunity to see and hear the candidate’s positions on issues of importance to the Cayo North division as well as issues of national importance.  I propose that we each appoint a representative to agree upon the terms of the debate, including date, venue, topics and a non-partisan moderator acceptable to both candidates.  Should you accept this invitation, please let me know on or before October 23, 2015 so that we can proceed with the necessary plans required for this important event.”  End of quote.  We tried contacting Chebat to see if there was any response from his opponent but we were unable to reach him this evening.
