Today, the Commanding Officer for San Ignacio, Superintendent Andrew Ramirez told us that investigators believe that the motive for the murder may have been jealousy.

ANDREW RAMIREZ

“The initial investigation reveals that at about 8:55 Mr. Guerrero was doing some type of work on Bella Vista Street here in San Ignacio Town when he was approached by a male individual wearing a security uniform on an ATV. This male person uttered some words to Mr.Guerrero at the same time firing the number of shots at Mr. Guerrero which caught him at the described locations I mentioned. Mr. Guerrero was subsequently escorted to the San Ignacio Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The male person made good his escape, he is at large. Our latest information is that he was heading toward the Guatemalan border through the back areas that we refer to as Pilar Calla Creek area. The family suspects that the motive in relation to this murder was due to jealousy. The investigation continues but we are looking at that as being the motive for this latest murder.”

Police are asking anyone who has information on this latest murder to come forward with it.
