Officer Caught Assaulting Prisoner

A police officer is out on bail after being caught on surveillance camera, beating an inmate. Twenty six year old Kent Thompson, a police officer of Hillview area, Santa Elena Town, Cayo District, attached to the San Ignacio Police Formation was seen on a surveillance camera beating Gustavo Williams. Williams reported that on Monday, October 12, while he was locked up, Officer Thompson came into his cell and started to beat him with a baton.  As a result he complained of pain to his left shoulder, left arm, and left side of his abdomen, his right leg and right arm. A statement was recorded and medico forms issued where his injuries were classified as harm. He then proceeded to request court action into the matter. Today, Thompson was arrested and charged for the crime of harm upon Gustavo Williams. He was taken before Magistrate Gillett in San Ignacio where he pled not guilty. He was offered and met bail in the sum of eight hundred dollars and one surety of the same amount. The case was adjourned to December 30, 2015. Recommendations will be made to the Commissioner of Police for his interdiction during the process of trial. He will also face disciplinary action from the Police Department. The Officer Commanding the formation, Superintendent Andrew Ramirez, assures the public that Police abuse will not been condoned nor covered up.
