BDF’s Retirement Age Up Fore Review

A few months ago we brought you the story of the Minister of National Security speaking on the proposed amendments to the retirement age for officers in the Belize Defense Force.  Commander of the BDF, Brigadier General David Jones gave us an update on where that initiative currently stands.

One officer who is facing retirement shortly is Lieutenat Colonel James Requena.  Some may know him as one of the bomb experts on the force but currently he is the == of the BDF.  Commander Jones says Requena may just have the option to extend his services in the military.

One of the concerns expressed to us some months ago was by the up and coming officers who told us that they would be at a disadvantage once the retirement age is amended … but Commander David Jones says that will not be the case.

As Commander Jones mentioned, if and when the retirement age changes, it will be announced.
