HOWELL GILLETT

“On the November 13, we received information of a possible murder in the Camalote area and we did confirm that the victim was one Mr. Ivan Choc, a 60 year old lost his life. We immediately launched an investigation which led us to numerous things which we already reported in the media which we included three ammunition that were recovered and persons were arrested for it. Subsequent to that over this weekend that passed we have arrested and charged Mr.Damion Donovan Velasquez Boden, he is from the  Young Bank area of Camalote and Justin Giovanni Banner, 18 years. Both men were charged for the murder of Mr.Ivan Choc.”

“At this point in time do you have any idea what the motive of the murder was?”

HOWELL GILLETT

“Well as it looks from the investigation that we have carried out thus far it seems as if it may have been an act of revenge because some time in the month of September somebody got injured by a gunshot and we believe it is a retaliation to that shooting that had occurred previously.”

The men appeared in court this morning where they were read the charge. They have been remanded to prison until January 21, 2016.  Love News also spoke with the mother of one of the accused who maintains that her son is innocent of the charge.

MOTHER OF ACCUSED

“I want to appeal and ask for heavenly prayers. A young man is being charged for a murder that he did not commit. His name is Justin Banner. At the time of the said incident that they are saying this murder was committed my son was at home and I can say that because I was with him. Yes I am his mother maybe the police will not believe me but my God above knows the truth and the best of all. He is not guilty of this and I want to say and ask the police that whenever they do their job they have a right to do it but they must do it properly. My son was charged and is being sent to the Hattieville prison at this moment for how much time we don’t know. What I can say is that you must remember that an innocent person is paying a price for something he did not do there is a reward for it and I hope and pray that you people can live with your conscience knowing that you sent an innocent man to jail.”

“Why would you think that the police would want to charge your son?”

MOTHER OF ACCUSED

“I cannot say, only they could answer that question. What I am saying is that if you know you have the wrong person the right person is still out there, the murderer is still out there and he is walking around as we speak bragging about it. It is easy to get him but you already have somebody charged for it so the innocent one is going to pay the price for the one who did it.”

As we have reported the teenager was shot and killed in front of his family on Friday November 13.
