Fatal accident on Southern Highway

An early morning road traffic accident has claimed the life of a man in southern Belize. Correspondent Harry Arzu has the story.

 

Harry Arzu, Love Fm: Independence police say that they arrived on the scene of a road traffic accident at about 5:30am. They confirmed that the incident occurred on the Southern Highway in the village of Medina Bank in the Toledo district. There they observed a black Toyota Tundra pick-up truck on the rail of the bridge extensively damaged and not too far from the vehicle they saw the body of 44 year old Emerson Burke with severe head and body injuries lying on the road. His body was taken to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan where it was pronounced dead on arrival. Police say that it appears that Burke was travelling alone toward Punta Gorda town. The investigation continues.
