Guatemalan President elect, Jimmy Morales is expected to be in Belize tonight.  A release from the office of the Prime Minister confirms that Morales is paying a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dean Barrow tomorrow, Saturday November 28. Since winning the recent elections in Guatemala, Morales, a comic actor by profession, embarked on a tour of the region paying courtesy call to all Heads of State and Government of SICA member states with the inclusion of Mexico. So far, Morales has visited Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua and this evening he met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto at his official residence. Morales’ visit to Belize comes as a surprise especially since it was reported earlier in the week that he would not visit Belize. However, he is expected to come through the northern border and make his way to the Radisson Hotel in Belize City where he will stay for the night before meeting with Prime Minister Barrow tomorrow morning. Since it is just a courtesy call, it is not expected that both leaders would speak of bilateral relations in details. No press conference has been announced but we will make our best attempt to get a comment from the President Elect of Guatemala.
