It has been less than a week since the tragedy unfolded leaving three young girls burnt and creating outrage from the public as well as myriad questions.  Monday morning saw the administration of the Youth Hostel where the fire occurred, sitting at the head table of a press conference along with the Minister and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation.  Out of several meetings and reports being read, it was announced that Margaret Nicholas, who once headed the Belize Family Court would be spearheading an investigation into the fire.  Today, via a release from the ministry, we were informed that Florence Dillett will be joining Nicholas in the investigation on the basis that Dillett has had decades of experience working with young persons both at home and abroad and that she has done some pioneering work with at-risk and vulnerable girls.  Dillett is the founder of the Youth Enhancement Services and holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.
