There is upset at the Port of Belize once again as the stevedores are saying that the head of the Port of Belize, Arturo Vasquez is reneging on an agreement they had as it relates to retirement funds.  Guy Neal spoke to Love News on the protest this morning and their rationale.

“I can say that the retirement and retroactive and everything that we signed on, now he is saying that basically that he did not sign on and doesn’t understand the retroactive and certain percentage that we agreed to. Well basically we agreed to 6%, four from them and two from us but it’s the retroactive that I think he doesn’t recall.  Within the time Port took us from the 12th of December 2004, whomever retired from that time, even their letter stated that should anything occur they would be called back to get the differences. Now he is saying, which he agreed to and,  now our meeting the 3rd he said that he doesn’t recall that, he is saying that and we signed to it.”

Neal had told us that the President of the Christian Workers Union, Audrey Matura- Sheppherd will be handling the matter and they will be taking further instructions from her on their course of industrial action.
