“On Friday, December 11, 2015 at 5am the National Fire Service received and had responded to a call of a structural fire at #9 Hopkins Street, Belize City. Upon arrival the upper flat of a two story structure was seen engulfed in flames. Following a preliminary size up the National Fire Service immediately went into operation extinguishing the fire. The fire was later brought under control and extinguished. As a result of the fire the structure was destroyed. It is understood that the upper flat is occupied by three individuals; none of whom were at home at the time of the fire. The owner of structure is said to be residing in the USA. Preliminary investigations revealed that the structure had no electrical current up to the time of the fire. The area of origin is narrowed to the North West section of the upper flat. It appears the fire was already in the free burning phase when we arrived on scene.”
