Two young men are being sought by the authorities in Ladyville Village, Belize District after they escaped with an estimated seven thousand Belize dollars in an armed robbery on New Year’s Day, just a few yards from the police station.  The duo reportedly entered Amy’s Restaurant on Poinsettia Street in the village and used a handgun to carry out the robbery.  Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster says that there may be surveillance cameras that caught the robbers red-handed and they will be pursuing those avenues.

EDWARD BROASTER: “This report was made by a business woman of Poinsettia street where two individuals accosted her and her husband in the said restaurant and robbed them of $7,000 worth of cash and other items. We have a prime suspect that we are looking for and this may have been an individual who may have worked for them in the past. That burglary was committed by two individuals who covered their faces.”

Amy’s Restaurant is a recently opened Chinese establishment.  None of the items or monies stolen in this robbery has been recovered.
