No Suspects in New Year’s Day Shooting

2016 did start out with a bang as it had emergency and crime personnel quite busy following traffic incidents on the highways as well as petty crimes.  In the old capital there was a shooting that left two young men nursing gunshot injuries following an incident on Cumberbatch Street in the Saint Martin de Porres area.  Officer Commanding Precinct Two, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Marcia Moody briefed the media.

“Police responded to a shooting incident at #8318 Cumberbatch Street; that is in the St. Martins area. Upon their arrival they met two young men, Rene McKenzie of McKenzie Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper right shoulder and one Mr. Ryan Foster of Sunset Area suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper back. Both gentlemen were transported to the hospital to seek medical attention. Mr. Foster was treated and released and Mr. McKenzie is still admitted there under observation. In regard to this shooting incident, at this time the police do not have any suspect and we do not have any motive as to why this shooting occurred. This shooting was done by two gentlemen on two separate bicycles names unknown so far.”

This shooting occurred on New Year’s Day at around six o’clock in the morning.  As Moody mentioned, there are no motives or suspects for this first shooting incident for 2016.
