HIPOLITO NOVELO REPORTING

After several days of intensive investigation, this morning, San Ignacio Police, charged two persons for the murder of 37 year old Canadian Filmmaker, Matthew Klinck. Nineteen year old Brandon Anderson and a 16 year old male minor, both of Santa Elena town, appeared before Magistrate Albert Hoare and were jointly charged for murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Insp. Reymundo Reyes, Deputy OC, San Ignacio Police: We have statements that were recorded, we have confessional statements from each one of them and we also have some sort of evidence that we gathered at the scene during the investigation which we could link to the murder of Mr.Klinck. After consultations without legal advisors we know that we have evidence surrounding the matter and that we could have laid charges on both person and that is why today we concluded by charging them for it.”

Klinck was found dead at the entrance of his home in Selena Village in the Spanish Lookout Area. He had been stabbed fourteen times to the neck and torso. Klinck was a respected professional both for his career and contribution to the film industry in Belize. So why would anyone would want him dead. Lead investigator, Inspector Reymundo Reyes says that the motive behind Klinck’s murder is robbery.

Insp. Reymundo Reyes, Deputy OC, San Ignacio Police: “We believe that robbery was the motive of the murder, the reason being that we recovered a ___ which we have as evidence which will be presented as evidence in court. We have evidence where one of the accused was seen going to the residence of the gentleman on the day we believe he was murdered.”

To strengthen their case, two persons are being sought to assist investigators.

Insp. Reymundo Reyes, Deputy OC, San Ignacio Police: “We are still looking for people for questioning. We don’t believe that these persons are directly involved in the murder of the gentleman but they will assist us in further strengthen what we have at this moment.”
