Police have arrested and charged eighteen year old Devon Tariq Lopez of Lakeview Street in Belize City with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of dangerous harm, and two counts of use of deadly means of harm for the double shooting that occurred on Dolphin Street where a mother and daughter were shot. Senior Superintendent Chester Williams says that this shooting might have been a form of retaliation for the recent murder of Cleon “Tush” Smith.

“The shooting on Dolphin Street, we are investigating it and we have arrested one person Devon Lopez who is from the Ghost Town area, the Ellis Meighn faction and he has been charged with two counts of attempted murder amongst other varying degree of crimes and from what our investigation is telling us, it is a direct retaliation in the shooting death of Tush so we are looking at that angle and see if other persons involved. We know for a fact that there is another young man involved, we know who the person is but we were not able to get any witness on the spot so as a result of that we were not able to press charges on the other person.”

On Monday night forty two year Stephanie Smith received a gunshot wound to her stomach; while her pregnant eighteen year old daughter, Shennelle Rowland was grazed on her stomach and right leg.
