Village Chairman Charged with Arson

Following the fire that destroyed a gift shop in the Toledo District, police have charged a village Chairman with arson.  Paul Mahung has the story.

“The arson that was committed on the 23rd of December 2015 in the village of Santa Cruz where the arts and craft wooden structure building was destroyed by fire; today police arrested and charged Aram Canti, 33-year-old village chairman of the same village for the crime of arson.”

“Members of Hibiscus Mayan Arts and Craft Women Cooperative of Santa Cruz recently told Love News that the destruction of their gift shop is now a set back as sales of their locally made arts and crafts at the gift shop provided much needed income to help sustain their families.”
