Thirty-eight year old Richard Escalera, a laborer of 36 Amara Avenue, was sentenced to 7 years today by Magistrate Carlon Mendoza when he pled guilty to burglary. Escalera had broken into Lion King Club, located on King Street, on Sunday, January 31. He stole assorted cigarettes, a quart of Absolute Vodka and one cellular phone, all to a total value of two hundred dollars. Escalera said he did it to get back at the owner of the club, Nilda Velasquez, for the way she treated him. Escalera was seen on surveillance camera stealing the items.
