PUP’s Party Leader and National Executive Sworn In

For the second time in eight years, the Honorable John Briceno was sworn in as the leader of the People’s United Party.  The swearing in ceremony took place at Independence Hall in Belize City and was conducted by Sam Waight, who once served as the Area Representative for Cayo South for the period 1979 to 1998.

COLLECTIVELY

“I do swear to pledge and work for the aims and objectives of the peaceful constructive Belizean. To work for the principles, policies and programs of the People’s United Party. To abide by the constitution, disciplines and decisions of the People’s United Party. To vote and encourage others to vote for all candidates of the People’s United Party in all elections. Not to be a member or supporter of any other political party or organization which principles, policies and programs are contrary to those of the People’s United Party so help me God.”

This morning’s swearing in also saw the other members of the PUP’s National Executive take their oath with Julius Espat as the Deputy Party Leader West; Kareem Musa as the Deputy Party Leader Central; Jose Abelardo Mai as the Deputy Party Leader North; Victor Espat as the National Campaign Manager; Anthony Mahler as the Communications Director; Ramon Cervantes as the Treasurer and Henry Charles as the Chairman.  Rodwell Ferguson who was elected as the Deputy Party Leader South took his oath following the official ceremony as he did not make it in time.  Love News understands that Honorable John Briceno will be sworn in as the Leader of the Opposition on Thursday, February 4 at the Belize House in Belmopan, Cayo District.
