Just after midnight last night there was an accident at mile 16 on the Philip Goldson Highway involving a burgundy Ford Escape SUV.  Upon arrival at the scene, officers attached to the Ladyville Police Station found that the vehicle had crashed into a tree after the driver was escaping from police officers.  Reports are that the driver, Ronald Revers of a Sandhill Village address had come into a checkpoint at the highway’s junction with Burrell Boom Road when he sped off in an attempt to evade the authorities.  Revers subsequently lost control of the vehicle and upon further inspection police found an assortment of imported Bravha beers as well as fourteen pounds of cannabis valued at just under three thousand dollars.  Revers was charged with drug trafficking, driving with alcohol above the prescribed limit and driving without due care and attention when he appeared before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza today. Revers pled not guilty to the charges and managed to meet bail which was set at eight thousand dollars.  He is to return to court on April 1.
