Missing Woman Found Dead

Police in southern Belize discovered the body of a woman in an orchard yesterday just after three o’clock about six miles on the Hummingbird Highway.  Investigations have found that the woman is a Guatemalan national who was reported missing by her teenaged son on January 16, 2016.   Love News did a missing person’s report on January 19 and today, authorities from Dangriga have confirmed that the businesswoman, 39-year-old, Lidia Janet Garcia Giron, is dead.  In the initial police report, it was noted that Garcia-Giron had left her home in Melchor de Mencos on Friday, January 8 at 5 am to go to Banana Farm #16 in the Cow Pen area of the Stann Creek District.  She had only contacted her son when she had gotten to San Ignacio Town that same morning and since that call, she has not been seen or heard from.  According to her 19-year-old son, Alexander Garcia Giron, his mother was meeting up with a man known as ‘El Nica’.  A post mortem examination was conducted on the woman’s body and her cause of death has been listed a blunt force trauma to the head.
