Having Fun with Rights: A Children’s Rights Activity Book – it is the name of a publication that was launched this morning at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts in Belize City.  Special Envoy for Women and Children, Kim Simplis-Barrow is behind this publication that came following consultations with elementary students from Hummingbird School and All Saints.  Simplis-Barrow addressed the gathering and spoke of the message being sent out via her second book.

Ivan Yerovi of the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) spoke during the ceremony and stressed on the importance of children to know what their rights are.

In a release coming out of the office of the Special Envoy, it states that the book was written to cater to an age audience from eight to eleven years and was done with the idea of using fun techniques in teaching about the rights of children.  The illustrations in the book were done by Lindbergh Joseph and printed by McNab Design Limited.  The books will be distributed to primary schools and through the National Library System.
