Sugar Production Lower than 2015

Updated: February 25, 2016

The 2016 Sugar Cane Season is in its 12th week and last week the factory at BSI managed to grind fifty one thousand two hundred and ninety three tons of cane. This produced four thousand eight hundred and thirty six tons of sugar. Two and a half thousand tons of mud was extracted from the cane. The ton cane per ton sugar ratio was recorded at ten point six one.  Despite a slight reduction in cane quality, increased cane supply resulted in an improvement in factory time efficiencies this week. The factory’s over all time efficiency registered close to one hundred percent. So far this year close to half a million tons of cane have been ground and more than forty four thousand tons of sugar has been produced. This is a decrease when compared to last year’s figures
