The first meeting that came out of the orders of the Caribbean Court of Justice ruling was held and described as being cordial in a release from the Maya Leaders of Belize.  The meeting was held earlier today between the Toledo Alcalde Association/Maya Leaders Alliance and the Toledo Maya Land Rights Commission.  The Maya Land Rights Commission was the creation of the Government of Belize as a step toward carrying out the ruling of the CCJ.  According to the Maya Leaders of Belize, Alfonso Cal has been selected to lead their Steering Committee and as such will be the focal person in dialogue with the Commission.  During this initial meeting today, several concerns were expressed to the commission surrounding the ongoing incursions in several of the villages.  The CCJ ruling was handed down in April 2015.
