Twenty-one year old Marcus Garcia, a stevedore of Ebony Street, became an inmate of Belize Central Prison when he appeared today before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza and was arraigned on charges of robbery and kept ammunition without a gun license. Garcia pled not guilty to the charges. He was remanded into custody until May 24. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on March 18. The police reported that they were at the corner of Vernon Street and Mayflower Street when their attention was drawn to Garcia who fitted the description of a person wanted for robbery. The police said when they stopped Garcia and searched him, they found a rusty magazine with four live rounds of point two five caliber ammunition in it in the left front pocket of his pants. According to a 16 year old boy, an employee of Pollo Express located on Central American Boulevard, a lone gunman entered the fry chicken business and held him up at gunpoint and demanded money. The boy said he feared for his life so he handed over eight hundred dollars.
