Over the weekend, 63 year old Guatemalan national Edgar Aldana was chopped to death. It happened in the village of Selena in the Cayo District, specifically inside the compound of Iguana Creek Government School Compound. Apparently he and his friend got into a fight with two other men which resulted in his death. For more information we spoke to Officer Commanding San Ignacio Police, Superintendent Richard Rosado.

“On Saturday 3 April 2016 at about 6am acting upon information received of a chopping incident in Selena Village San Ignacio police visited the said village where they saw the lifeless body of an elderly Hispanic decent male in an open lot behind the Iguana Creek government school with multiple chop wounds to the upper part of his body. He was later identified as one Edgar Alfonso Perdomo Aldana, 63 years old. Our initial investigation revealed that at about 3am Edgar Perdomo Aldana and Ruben Manson, both Guatemalan laborers  of the said village were socializing within the Iguana Creek government school compound about 50 feet away from the residence of the deceased when an altercation ensued between them and two other male individuals of the same village which subsequently resulted in his injuries and where Ruben Manson was severely injured. Manson received chop wounds to the upper part of his body. Manson was subsequently transported to the KHMH where he is hospitalized in a critical condition. At this time we are still trying to ascertain the motive but we do know that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. Also we are looking for two male individuals, a Guatemalan and a Salvadoran for questioning who may be able to assist us in our investigation.”
