Transformation Efforts via Resource Centre for Youth

The Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Transformation held a groundbreaking ceremony this morning for the Lake Independence Resource Centre. The center is a part of the Youth and Community Transformation (YCT) Project. The project is to reduce vulnerability of children and youth to crime and gang membership in areas such as Collet, Lake Independence, Port Loyola and Pickstock. Chief Executive Officer, Ministry of Human Development, Judith Alpuche spoke about how the center will fit into the YCT project.

Four point six million dollars will be taken from the ten million dollars loan by the Caribbean Development Bank to complete the building. The remainder of the funds will be used at other existing facilities say CEO Alpuche.

The resource center will be in the Lake Independence area on the Chetumal Street Extension due to the availably of space. Alpuche spoke about studies that were conducted for project.

The building is expected to be completed by September.
