2 of 3 Fishermen Arraigned for Undersized Conch

Two fishermen, Higinio Rivero and Juan Munoz, were charged with possession of market clean undersized conch when they appeared today before Magistrate Deborah Rogers. According to the allegation, Rivero had 40 undersized conch and Munoz had 90. They pled not guilty to the charge. They were each offered a self-bail of one thousand dollars but before they meet bail they must pay court fines for which payment is outstanding. Rivero owes one hundred and twenty dollars and Munoz owes two thousand six hundred dollars. On April 7, around 10 a.m. fisheries officers at Glover’s Reef Marine Reserve when they saw three persons, Munoz, Rivero and another man by the name of Foreman. They identified themselves as fisheries officers and reported that when they searched a canoe and the mother boat, they found the undersized conch. Rivero told Magistrate Rogers that he wants to know why Foreman was not charged. Magistrate Rogers then told the fisheries officer who is the prosecutor that she expects a charge for Foreman as well.
