The National Garifuna Council is mourning the death of Sasamu Celeo Alvarez Casildo. Casildo who hails from Honduras was a founding member of the Central American Black Organization along with the National Garifuna Council. A release from the NGC says Casildo was the leader and mobilizer of Organization for Community and Ethnic Development, an organization focused on empowering and fighting the cause of Garinagu and Afro-descendants of Honduras. The release goes on to say he took his cause internationally and was ‘men among men’ as he fought the injustice, discrimination, and lack of opportunities for his people.
