A charge of murder against two police constables, Hallet King and Leonard Nunez, was reduced to manslaughter when they appeared today before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith, on instruction from the Director of Public Prosecutions. King and Nunez were both released on bails of two thousand dollars each and their case was adjourned until June 16. The charge arose from an incident which occurred in June last year in which a teenager, Hilberto Sotz, died from a beating that was administered to him while he was in the cell at Caye Caulker Police Station.
