This past weekend, the People’s United Party held a meeting at Maracas in Orange Walk Town to elect a Chairman for the Orange Walk South committee.  That person will be replacing Jose Abelardo Mai since he is now the Deputy Leader North on the party’s national executive.  During that meeting, Thea Garcia was elected.  As it relates to postings, from all accounts there is only one position left to be filled and that is for the National Campaign Manager after Victor Espat stepped down last week.  Despite the murmurings and the opposition being faced internally, particularly regarding the removal of Ramon Munchi Cervantes as the Party Treasurer, the Party Leader, John Briceno is moving full steam ahead and has been continuing his familiarization tour of all thirty one divisions.  Recently, he met with the Freetown and Caribbean Shores divisions and that seemingly went well as one senior PUP member wrote on his Facebook status, quote, “Last night the executive committees of the Freetown and Caribbean Shores divisions of the Peoples United Party met with the party leader Hon. John Briceno at Independence Hall as he continues his tour of all 31 divisions Hon. Kareem Musa and Hon. Francis Fonseca address the committees and the Hon John Briceno gave a full report. A question and answer session was done. The meeting lasted about two hours we left in good sprites endorsing his leadership and offer the party leader our 100% support united.”  End of quote.  As it relates to the other positions in the party, we can tell you that Cordel Hyde is the National Deputy Leader, Lead Opposition Senator, Eamon Courtenay is the National Strategic Development Manager; Attorney Andrew Marshalleck is the new Legal Adviser, replacing Anthony Sylvestre; Jaime Briceno is the Campaign Manager with Servulo Baeza, Grace Simpson and Wendy Castillo serving as the Deputy Campaign Managers.  Also appointed were three Deputy Communication Directors, namely, Emilio Zabaneh, Kevin Bernard and Dan Silva.  Meanwhile, Narda Garcia and Zoe Zetina are the co-chairs for Policy and Reform; Bill Lindo is the Research and Development Coordinator; Senator Paul Thompson is the liaison for Civil Society and Social Partners and Linsford Castillo is the Secretary General.
