Belize Signs Onto Paris Agreement for Climate Change

Prime Minister Dean Barrow is in New York where he has signed onto the Paris Agreement on Climate Change this morning at the Climate Change Headquarters of the United Nations.  Belize is one of one hundred and fifty five countries that have committed to signing the agreement which was approved in Paris on December 12, 2015 by the 196 parties to the UN’s Framework Convention on Climate Change.  In this agreement which will remain opened for one year to garner additional signatures, all countries have committed to work towards goals that will limit the temperature rise overall below two degrees Celsius whilst aiming to achieve a rise below one point five degrees Celsius.  Prime Minister Dean Barrow is expected back in the country over the weekend.
