Belize has been labeled as the number one country in the Caribbean region that is “more dangerous than the US” in a published article of Newsamericanow.com. The article reportedly compared murder rates from the United Nations Office on drugs and crime for every one hundred persons in top Caribbean nations. Belize was labeled number one most dangerous Caribbean nation with the description “Belize: You are 11.9 times more likely to be murdered in Belize than in the United States. Forty-five in every 100,000 people are murdered annually in Belize compared to about four in The United States according to the UN data.” End of quote. The webpage uses a picture to depict Belize with a body of man, apparently dead, lying on Majestic Alley of Belize City labeled “A man murdered in daylight in an alley in Belize.” Second on the list was Jamaica with the data of 11.3 times more likely to be murdered.  The remaining top ten countries were St. Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, St. Vincent and Grenadines, the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia and Guyana respectively.
