Eight Belizeans Honored on Behalf of the Queen

Eight Belizeans were honored for their dedicated and outstanding services to their community at a ceremony held today at the Belize House in the City of Belmopan. The insignias were presented by the Acting Governor General of Belize H.E. Carlos Perdomo on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.  Receiving the insignia of a Companion of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George was Mr. Michael Bowen for services to business and industry. Eleanor Hulse was awarded for services to education and Dilicia Feinstein for services to business and the community; they both received the insignia of an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The insignia of a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was given to Emelda August for services to nursing; Sarita Westby for services to education and the community; Juan Nunez for services to education and sport; Dr. Aaron Lewis for services to science; and Janet Gibson for services to environmental protection.
