Suspected Murderers Released Pending Lab Results Sent Abroad

Last Thursday, twenty two year old Michael Lopez was shot and killed near his home in the St. Martin de Porres area. Minutes after the incident, members of the Gang Suppression Unit caught two of the suspected gunmen on a motorcycle speeding off. When they were intercepted, police found blood on their clothes. Senior Superintendent Alden Dawson, Deputy Officer in Command of Eastern Division South told us why the suspects have been released.

ALDEN DAWSON

“Mr.Williams said earlier to the media that the evidence that we have collected has been sent to the lab internationally and we are waiting for the response from those people to move forward.”

LOCAL REPORTER

“Have these persons been released?”

ALDEN DAWSON

“Yes they were interviewed and released.”

LOCAL REPORTER

“Have they been given anything to cooperate with police in trying to explain what happened there?”

ALDEN DAWSON

“No they did not cooperate with us along that angle.”

Police believe that Lopez’s murder was in retaliation for the double murder of Keiran Morrison and Kent Brooks.
