One hundred and twenty seven men and women have recently joined the Belize Defense Force Volunteer element.  With the group divided into seven units, they have survived the first week of the annual battle camp at the Valencia Camp in the Cayo District.  Today, the Minister of National Security, John Saldivar along with the BDF Commander was hosted at the camp where they conducted inspections and witnessed a portion of the training on the range.  According to Commander David Jones, this recent set of recruits will help to build back the volunteer element to an acceptable number.

Minister Saldivar told the media today that the volunteer aspect is crucial and so is training which they have tried to maintain on a regular basis.

Majority of the recruits come from Dangriga.  The camp began on July 17 and ends July 31.
